BARBERTON XCM Mountainbike Challenge
The Barberton XCM Mountainbike Challenge, proudly hosted by Round Table 67 Barberton, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027.
Since its beginnings in 1997, the Barberton XCM has become one of South Africa’s most loved single-day mountain biking events. Over the years, riders have returned to take on the rugged trails, spectacular scenery and unique atmosphere that make Barberton such a special place to ride.
While the event has faced a few interruptions along the way, 2027 marks 30 years since it all began.

The popular Barberton XCM Mountainbike Challenge is still going strong 30 years after the first race. The event is back to excite participants and spectators alike.

About The BARBERTON XCM Mountainbike Challenge
The Barberton XCM features five distinct race categories, ranging from the "gentle" 25km Fun Ride to the "challenging" 110km Ultra Marathon. All races will start and finish at the Barberton High School (S25º46’31,7″ E31º03’04,5″). Registration, briefings, prize giving, stalls, beer garden, and other formalities will also be held at the Barberton High School.

110km (Red): 06:00 (R 650.00)
75km (Green): 06:15 (R 600.00)
50km (Blue): 06:30 (R 530.00)
21km (Black): 07:30 (R 150.00)
About The Routes
The routes will take riders through diverse terrains, including water crossings, single tracks, the Greenstone Wildlife Estate, and some of the world's richest gold mines. They will also pass through Sappi plantations and thousands of macadamia trees, featuring everything from rocky climbs to fast descents, ensuring there's something for every rider's preference.
